Hydrologic alterations in wetlands can significantly alter soil chemistry and plant and animal communities. These alterations can result from various factors, including the deposition of fill material, draining, dredging, channelization, diking, damming, diversion of flow, and the addition of impervious surfaces in the watershed, which increases water and pollutant runoff into wetlands. 

Mounting evidence is emerging that large wind farms can reduce property values that are in sight of the turbines by as much as 30%.
